Description
Caroline Pickersgill lived in Baltimore with her mother and grandmother in the early 1800s. To support themselves they sewed flags and pennants for ships that sailed into the harbor from all over the world. During the War of 1812, they made the huge flag that flew over Fort McHenry and inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star-Spangled Banner."
