New Ulm, Minnesota, bore the brunt of the Sioux Uprising in 1862 during two battles, which decided the fate of what also became known as the Dakota Conflict. Drawn from Dr. Fritsche's county history, this work is of value not only because it provides a documentary history of the conflict, but also because it contributes to an understanding of how New Ulmers viewed and understood the conflict.
