Jim Cleve left his old life and set out to the gold fields of southern Montana because even his girlfriend thinks he is "too good." When she realizes he has gone, she follows him, but is kidnapped by ruthless gang leader, Jack Kells, who tries to rape her. In self-defense, she shoots him, but cannot bring herself to leave him to die. While she is caring for Kells, he experiences a change of heart, but when the gang returns to the hideout, they refuse to let her go.
